The Tradition
When my grandfather Nazzareno washed his face, he was very careful not to swallow a single drop of water; in fact, ever since he was a boy, the only liquid he had ever drunk was wine, only wine, farmer's wine that he made himself, in times when there were no professional oenologists. My other grandfather Giuseppe also made his own wine, and my father Gaspare was no different. Could I have broken with tradition? Never!
This is how Valter Mattoni answers those who ask him why he spends so much time locked in the cellar, a prisoner of his small and passionate production.
History
In 2000, Arshura was born, a magical word that evokes an ancestral thirst, just like Valter's family's passion.
Arshura is made from 100% Montepulciano grapes, vinified in one of the Marche region's most renowned wine-producing areas, in the heart of Italy, on the gentle hills of Ascoli, three hundred meters above sea level, which can be glimpsed on the horizon, in clay and alluvial soils.
Valter, on the other hand, was born in 1960 in Castorano. His nickname is Roccia, and his profession is a decorator. It's well known that Roccia is also captivated by other passions, such as antiques and motorcycles, but we particularly appreciate him for his four thousand bottles of Arshura. Obviously.
